NEW HAVEN, June 4, 2013 / Official Press Release / -- This month, Vintanthromodern Vintage, LLC officially debuts the Vintanthromobile, a vintage boutique on wheels. Housed inside a retrofitted shuttle bus, the shop carries an amazing assortment of affordable vintage clothing, shoes and accessories from the 1920s through the 1990s.

The mobile retail business trend is sweeping across the country.  Inspired by the food truck boom in cities like New York, Portland, Los Angeles, and Austin, entrepreneurs are repurposing and renovating old trailers, trucks, and buses to establish innovative mobile shops (http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/06/living/mobile-retail-boutiques).

Founded in 2011, Vintanthromodern Vintage (pronounced vin–tan-thro-modern), has been selling its expertly curated collection of everyday wearable vintage clothing, shoes and accessories online on Etsy, at The English Building Market and at pop-up shops and street festivals in New Haven, Connecticut. Melissa Gonzales, owner and operator, has been collecting vintage for over 20 years. This hobby-turned-small business is driven by the core values of sustainability, wearability, diversity and affordability. Carefully gathered from estates and sources across the state and beyond, most pieces range from $25-$80.

“Having a vintage business has always been my dream,” says Gonzales, “Being an art teacher with summers off makes this the perfect side business.  Always having an entrepreneurial spirit, I wanted to figure out a way to get my extensive vintage collection out of my closet and into the hands of fashion lovers everywhere. With the overhead costs of traditional brick and mortar shops being so restrictive, mobile retail seemed the perfect solution.  And that’s how the concept of the Vintanthromobile was born!”

She continues, “Vintage clothing is such a natural match for mobile retail. The days of vintage being solely for costume parties and theatrical productions are long gone.  Today’s fashionistas want one of a kind pieces at sweet price points.  Wearing vintage is just another way of expressing yourself while reducing your carbon footprint and going green.”

This summer, the Vintanthromobile will be popping up across Connecticut. The Vintanthromobile is also available for private events and parties.
