Anna Sincavage who owns Skappo merkato / Skappo italian wine bar here in New Haven is a super creative and inspiring woman that has been creating some amazing upcycled/refashioned clothing using unworn and neglected pieces from her closet (and ours here at Vintanthromodern Vintage). We're utterly amazed at her creations - including one of our most-tried-on pieces; our purple mohair maxi skirt was a showstopper - but no one could fit into it! Anna took it back to her magic workshop and reappeared with an AMAZING cape! SHE TURNED A SKIRT INTO A CAPE - GENIUS! And lucky for us she's debuting her line in our rotating pop-up space and is calling it "Vintage Reborn."
Today we did a workshop with some pieces from our own closet - with Anna sharing her creative ideas along the way. Anna is great at coming up with new ideas for items that we love - either for the fabric, print, or color - but can't figure out how or where to wear them. There's something really great about remixing vintage pieces to give them new life. Our friend Erin of Craftnoire was in house with a skirt she loved - but never wore - and now she has an amazing dress perfect for turning heads this summer. We'll definitely be doing more of these workshops so reach out if you're interested!
