1930-40s Vintage Blue Morpho Butterfly Wing Necklace with Pendant

Materials: Metal, Silver, Butterfly Wing

Lovely vintage butterfly wing necklace, intense blue and sterling silver gypsy style, with tropical reverse painted imagery. This vintage necklace consists of 8 different reverse painted plaques, Each plaque is a hand painted landscape on the reverse of the glass and set on the butterfly wing. The pendants are attached together with a silver metal chain. The piece is marked Made in Brazil on the back of one of the pendants. The necklace measures about 20 inches long. The chain tests silver and the clasp has been replaced.It is in wonderful vintage condition.

Blue morpho butterflies are one of the most emblematic and favorite of all Amazon species. They have a characteristic vivid blue color and shiny wings that reflect the light, making them easy to spot amidst the jungle canopy.
