sold out
1970s Lanz Original, Vintage Maxi with reproduction Art Nouveau Aubrey Beardsley Prints (1890s)
Materials: Cotton, Nylon Zipper
Brand / Maker: Lanz Originals, USA
Era: 1970s
70's Lanz novelty print maxi in graphic Black & Cream. Aubrey Beardsley Art Nouveau illustrations were printed by Bloomcraft over the length of this fun garment. Palest cream-colored background with black artwork the skirt has a 19" back slit and black 1" waistband. These were limited-run skirts made by Lanz with an engineered design, the fabric was also sold by the yard and can be seen in pillows or panels of the same period. Slightly gathered at the waist and ankle-length this skirt is a statement piece! Very good vintage condition.
Aubrey Beardsley (1872 – 1898) created complex, stunning, and often controversial black-and-white linear designs. Beardsley was strongly influenced by the elegance of Art Nouveau and the boldness of Japanese woodcuts. Creating 17 sensual drawings for Oscar Wilde’s play “Salome,” Beardsley was eventually rejected by the public for his art's perceived decadence and his association with Wilde.
